North Carolina A&T football moves to Colonial Athletic Association

There has never been an HBCU at the FBS level
When the Aggies moved to the Big South, that was one of several moves that could have been a signal they were carving a path to FBS. Moving to FBS means an increase in enrollment, giving, and facilities. NC A&T has seen an increase in all three.
Coastal Carolina and Liberty University are currently two former Big South schools in FBS.
Two years ago, the Aggies were exploring the move up to FBS. North Carolina A&T is the largest HBCU in the country, with an enrollment of 13,322, marking the eighth year the university’s enrollment has grown. This growth is due to an uptick in first-year, transfer, and doctoral enrollments.
Their enrollment is currently larger than Wake Forest University.
North Carolina A&T had its most extensive giving campaign in school history and opened the new Martin Complex for research and engineering four days ago.
Moving to the CAA reaffirms an FBS path for the Aggies. Many former CAA schools have made the jump to FBS. Boston College, East Carolina, the Naval Academy, Liberty University, Old Dominion and Virginia Tech include former full and associate members.
It would be fantastic to see an HBCU compete at college football’s highest level.
