Auburn Football: Way-too-early 2022 game-by-game predictions
Auburn football had a wild and unpredictable offseason, filled with transfers and coaching rumors. What will the Tigers’ record be in 2022?
Nobody has more entertaining offseasons than teams in the SEC. This was true for Auburn football in the first few months of the offseason.
Coaches and players have been leaving the program left and right, it has been hard to hire coordinators, and head coach Bryan Harsin has had to survive all kinds of rumors about him and his job status. It seems inevitable that at some point during the season or after that Harsin and Auburn seem to be heading for a split.
The first sign of trouble this offseason happened when three-year starting quarterback Bo Nix decided to leave the program and transfer to Oregon. Nix was an Auburn legacy player and his decision to leave the school shocked most fans.
Defensive coordinator Derek Mason took a substantial pay cut to go be the defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State. In total, Auburn has had more than 20 players transfer out of the program. The Tigers also did not have the best recruiting class compared to some of the teams they have to face.
What does all of this mean for Auburn’s season? It is probably going to be a rough season on the plains in 2022. Auburn has a non-conference game with Penn State along with the usual SEC gauntlet. Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and LSU all await Auburn. It is going to be tough for the Tigers to make a bowl game, let alone challenge any of the top teams.
Here are the way-too-early 2022 game predictions for Auburn.
