North Carolina Football: Way-too-Early 2022 Game Predictions
After a tough loss to Notre Dame yet again, North Carolina football will get ready for their ACC opener against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Virginia Tech was able to get the best of North Carolina in Blacksburg last season and the Tarheels will be looking for revenge. The Hokies are undergoing another coaching change, with Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry taking over and trying to change the culture in Blacksburg.
Pry may prove to be the right hire, but it could be a tough first year for Virginia Tech. There are question marks all over the roster and the game is in Chapel Hill. North Carolina gets their revenge.
Final Score: North Carolina 38, Virginia Tech 21 (4-1, 1-0 ACC)
This has been one of the more intriguing ACC rivalries in the past few seasons. In 2019, North Carolina converted a 4th and 17 to get in position to score the game-winning touchdown. In 2020, North Carolina went on the road and blew the Hurricanes out in a ranked matchup. Last season, the Tar Heels won in a high-scoring thriller. Brown has won three straight vs the Hurricanes and will look to make it four.
This will be a new look Hurricanes team, however. Mario Cristobal has taken over his alma mater and looking to build them into contenders. He has assembled a great staff and the Hurricanes have an excellent quarterback in Tyler Van Dyke. They won’t be playoff contenders, but Miami will get the best of North Carolina in 2022.
Final Score: North Carolina 34, Miami 39 (4-2, 1-1)
