2. Cincinnati Bearcats

I know Notre Dame just scheduled Cincinnati in 2021, losing the meeting in South Bend 24-13. This was actually just the second meeting with the Bearcats in program history as the first came all the way back in 1900 when the Irish won 58-0.

With Cincinnati being the top Group of Five team in the country, it would be an interesting matchup with Notre Dame, especially with revenge on the menu.

But even more intriguing are the storylines it would provide. Marcus Freeman is the former defensive coordinator at Cincinnati and it would be fun to watch him face his former team. Luke Fickell is also considered one of the best young coaches in college football and it’d be interesting to see how Freeman would stack up with his former boss.

Freeman would love to face his former program that he helped get to the top of college football and set them up to be the first Group of Five team to ever make the playoff.

This is still a fresh matchup in fans’ eyes, but with Freeman now the head coach, it needs to be scheduled once again.
