Defensive Line

Starting defensive ends: Brenton Cox Jr., Princely Umanmielen
Backups: Tyreak Sapp, Dante Lang

Starting defensive tackles: Gervon Dexter, Jalen Lee
Backups: Tyrone Truesdell, Jaelin Humphries

This is going to be an interesting unit to watch for the Florida defense. They got a huge boost when Brenton Cox Jr. decided to come back for his final season, but there are some questions at other spots, especially with the depth. Cox was the leading pass rusher for the Gators and recorded 8.5 sacks last season.

They will have to replace second-leading rusher Zachary Carter, who is now in the NFL.

Gervon Dexter had a nice season in 2021 and got over 50 tackles. He is a former five-star recruit and the Gators really need him to take that next step. Princely Umanmielen is going to be expected to contribute more this season as well and he should be at the other defensive end spot. Look for Jalen Lee to be the other starting interior guy alongside Dexter.

Depth is going to be the concern. There are some talented guys, but unproven. Florida could really benefit from having Tyreak Sapp take a step forward this season. Auburn transfer Tyrone Truesdell was brought in and could be included in the rotation.
