Texas football is looking for players to step up and lead the team back to prominence. Who are some breakout candidates for the Longhorns this season?

Every offseason, there are jokes about if this is actually the season that Texas football will be back. It’s an annual tradition that seems like it is going to be going on until the end of time.

Texas being back seemed to get even further away last season with their 5-7 season. Texas is hoping that the second season under Steve Sarkisian will help fix the broken culture in Austin and help the Longhorns challenge for the Big 12 title.

For Texas to start getting on the track to being back, the Longhorns are going to have to have some breakout players come forth and help this team. Last year, Texas got a big showing from true freshman receiver Xavier Worthy and he is now looked at as one of the best wideouts in college football.

Running back Bijan Robinson has been a star since he stepped on the field as a true freshman.

Texas just signed a top-five recruiting class and brought in several key transfers. That is one step in the right direction for this program to return to playoff contention and win championships. With so many new faces, there are a lot of candidates to choose from to be the breakout star for this year’s team. Texas promises to be one of the most interesting teams to watch because they have a high ceiling because of their talent and people like to see the team fail.
