5 College football teams that’ll bounce back from disappointing seasons
Looking ahead to the 2022 college football season, here are five teams that will bounce back from disappointing campaigns in 2021.
Spring practices have already started across the college football landscape and with 2022’s National Signing Day in the rearview mirror, the next season seems just around the corner.
And the 2022 college football season is one that’s highly anticipated for a number of reasons, not the least of which is all the head-coaching movement this offseason, as well as a few high-profile quarterbacks changing teams and potentially fortunes, dramatically.
There were also a number of big-name programs that failed to meet expectations last season for one reason or another. Texas A&M football was supposed to contend for the SEC title and a playoff spot but fell short.
Clemson didn’t win the ACC for the first time in what seems like forever, and Ohio State also fell short of winning the Big Ten championship for the first time since 2016. USC, Texas, Florida State, and Nebraska all had losing seasons, while LSU, Florida, Penn State, Oregon, and Oklahoma were among those that failed to meet expectations.
Which of these college football programs are best positioned to turn things around next season? We take a look here are five teams that will bounce back in 2022.
Ohio State — Buckeyes will win the Big Ten title
There aren’t many college football teams that would be disappointed by winning 11 games and the Rose Bowl but Ohio State is one of them.
The Buckeyes lost to Michigan for the first time since 2011 and didn’t win the Big Ten championship for the first time since 2017.
Heisman finalist C.J. Stroud is back and the offense should be almost as good as it was last season. Plus, Ryan Day and company get Michigan at home this year, and while the Buckeyes will have to travel to Michigan State, it will win the Big Ten and get back to the playoff in 2022.
