Wisconsin Football suffered a bit of a down season in 2021 and did not win the Big Ten West. How many games will the Badgers win in 2022?

Most fans of college football just assume that Wisconsin is going to win the Big Ten West. The Badgers have become the premier program in that division, but they have been unable to get it done in the past two seasons. However, after a rough start to the 2021 season, Wisconsin found its rhythm and started to play like the Wisconsin football program that everyone knows.

A big reason for that was freshman running back Braelon Allen. It took a few games to get Allen into the lineup, but once he did, the offense really took off. Wisconsin is able to function better as an offense if they have a lead running back that they can count on. Allen became that guy and he was the best player on the team during the last half of the season.

The big question for Wisconsin is a familiar one. What kind of production are they going to get at the quarterback? After having a solid debut season in 2020, Graham Mertz had a big regression season in 2021 and he was a reason that Wisconsin struggled in the early part of the season. If Mertz does not show much improvement in spring practice, don’t be surprised if Wisconsin explores options through the transfer portal.

It is going to be a bit of a tough slate for Wisconsin this season. They have a trip to Ohio State in September and road trips to Iowa and Michigan State. It will be tough to win the Big Ten West, but the Badgers are capable.
