Wisconsin Football: Way-too-Early Game Predictions for 2022
Wisconsin is going to get to open up the season against the Illinois State Redbirds and it should be as much of a slam dunk of a win as you can get early on. It will be important for the Badgers to get out of this game healthy and ready for the games ahead on their schedule.
This is also going to be an important game for Mertz to regain confidence, assuming he is still the starter. Mertz is the key to Wisconsin’s ultimate goals this season and confidence is going to be key.
Final Score: Wisconsin 48, Illinois State 3 (1-0)
This is going to be an intriguing non-conference matchup between two teams that normally don’t get a chance to play each other. Washington State appeared to be heading for disaster last season after head coach Nick Rolovich was fired, but interim coach Jake Dickert did a nice job of keeping this group together.
The Cougars made a bowl game and despite losing to Central Michigan, the Cougars have to feel good about the season they had.
However, going to Madison and beating Wisconsin is going to be quite the challenge. The Badgers defense is going to be elite again this season and will shut down Washington State’s offense.
Final Score: Wisconsin 35, Washington State 13 (2-0)
