There are old faces in new places around college football for 2022, so which first-year head coaches could push for a national title?

The coaching carousel has been wild this offseason. Some big names have left major programs for more money at other perennial powerhouses. College football has been shaken up.

Programs like Notre Dame, Miami, USC, Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, Washington, and Florida have all parted ways with coaches and had to find replacements. Most of these programs have not only found adequate replacements, but some have even upgraded.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen so many major programs change head coaches in the same offseason, but it’s setting up for the 2022 campaign to be electric.

Coaches like Lincoln Riley, Mario Cristobal, and Brian Kelly are all on the move at new programs and each could contend for national titles next season.

First-year coaches usually have a tough time contending for titles early on, but this is an unprecedented offseason.

Which first-year coaches could make a national title push in 2022?

Note: In the case of the term “first-year head coach”, I’m referring to coaches at new programs and not necessarily head coaches who have never held that title before.
