Jaron Willis

The Rebels are losing their two most productive linebackers. Chance Campbell and Mark Robinson are moving on to the NFL. The team has brought in some players from the transfer portal to help fill the roles. They also got the signature of Jaron Willis, a highly talented recruit who will be a freshman next year.

Willis is the third highest-rated recruit in the 2022 class for the Rebels, according to 247 Sports. He is a four-star recruit who measures 6’2” and 220 lbs. Willis is an edge rusher who can also play outside linebacker.

He finished his last year of high school with 57 tackles, nine for a loss, and two interceptions. Willis also recorded two sacks that season.

Willis could have an immediate impact on the Rebel defense. An already improving defense that lost key players will need someone to continue what started last year and Willis has all the attributes to be a solid linebacker in the SEC.

Willis has the size, athleticism, and speed to play in the linebacker position. He can also line up as an edge rusher and make plays in the backfield. A versatile player like this is a dream for most coaches. Defensive coordinators will be able to line him up all over the field, depending on the situation in the game.

If Ole Miss needs him to cover a tight end or a receiver, the Rebels can line him up at linebacker. In coverage, he can use his size and speed. In addition, he can line up as an edge rusher to make plays in the backfield on crucial downs.

The Rebel defense has a player that can do a lot for the team. If he stays healthy, Willis can have a great career with the Rebels. Next year all eyes will be on him to see what impact he can have in his first season.
