Quarterback

Starter: D.J. Uiagalelei

Backup: Cade Klubnik

The position that is going to be watched with intense scrutiny is the quarterback position. D.J. Uiagalelei played great in two games he started in 2020 and was expected to pick up where he left off. Uiagalelei had a rough season in 2021 and did not seem comfortable in the offense last season.

Clemson is going to give Uiagalelei every chance to remain the starter, but he is going to be pushed by incoming five-star quarterback Cade Klubnik. Klubnik was the top high school quarterback in the country and is participating in spring practice.

Expect Uiagalelei to start the season off as the starter, but if he does not play well in the first few games, it might be time to give Klubnik a chance. Whether Clemson is a playoff contender or not is going to depend on whether they can get back to having elite quarterback play.
