Running Back

Starter: Will Shipley

Backup: Kobe Pace

The running back position for Clemson is in good hands with Will Shipley. Having to replace Travis Etienne was never going to be easy, but Shipley did the best job that he could. It took Shipley a little bit to get going, but he became a great all-purpose running back for the Clemson offense. Whether it is running the ball or catching it out of the backfield, Shipley is a threat to score anytime that he touches the ball.

Clemson has Shipley, but they also have a great backup to rely on in Kobe Pace. Pace was the second-leading rusher for the Tigers last season and he will be the main backup to Shipley this season. Most teams would love to have one running back like Clemson football, but the Tigers are fortunate to have two really good options in the backfield.

Behind those two, look for Phil Mafah to get some carries every now and then. Mafah is a solid back and can step in if either Shipley or Pace were to get injured.
