McKade Mettauer – Guard

With Marquis Hayes off to the NFL, the Oklahoma football team needs a plug-and-play guard that can step in right away. Enter McKade Mettauer, who has started 28 games at guard already in his college career.

While Mettauer is stepping into a whole different world of offensive scheme, his talent is undeniable. In 2021, he was an honorable mention all-Pac-12 selection and has been rock solid during his entire tenure at Cal.

Offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh is already singing his praises. Mettauer left a “really, really good first impression” on Bedenbaugh before spring practice started.

Mettauer wasn’t a top-end prospect coming out of high school. He didn’t have the athleticism that major programs were looking for. But, his development and his sheer nastiness on the line of scrimmage vaulted him into the Sooner program.

He’ll stick around for two years, and could be a first-team all-Big XII selection in 2022.
