Theo Wease – Wide Receiver

It’s not that Theo Wease is unknown. He tied for the team lead in receptions during the 2020 season, though his production wasn’t what fellow receiver Marvin Mims’ was. But, his 2021 non-season took him off the minds of Big XII fans.

Blame injuries for that. He got hurt in fall camp, and whatever lower-body injury that he sustained kept him out all year.

2022 is a veritable spring for Wease, though. In December, he put his name in the transfer portal and looked to be gone. Wisely, he decided to return and comes back to an offense well suited for him.

In Jeff Lebby’s wide-open, hurry-up assault, Wease will get far more touches. Former coach Lincoln Riley sent him downfield on RPOs or asked him to block on the edge, for the most part. While Wease was good at this, he’s a long, athletic receiver who is a very good jump-ball option at flanker, where he often has a matchup advantage on smaller corners.

The former five-star prospect has a bright future heading into this season.
