The 2022 season is right around the corner with spring ball upon us and it’s time to take an early look at the most overrated Big Ten football coaches.

What a Big Ten football season we got to witness in 2021.

A number of shocking occurrences happened such as Jim Harbaugh turning Michigan around in his seventh year after going the first six without a win over Ohio State nor a Big Ten title. He ended both of those droughts in 2021 with a win over the Buckeyes which clinched the Big Ten East and then he defeated Iowa in the conference championship to earn a playoff berth.

That wasn’t the only shocking event to happen to the conference, however, as Mel Tucker turned Michigan State around, leading the Spartans to an 11-win season in year 1.5.

Wisconsin’s struggles were surprising and so were Indiana’s while Penn State slipping back into mediocrity was a little befuddling as well.

Some coaches really proved themselves while others (Scott Frost, Mike Locksley) may have inched closer to the hot seat. And others have skated by with mediocrity and still somehow continue to earn more respect than they deserve.

Here are the three most overrated head coaches in the Big Ten heading into 2022.
