Quarterback

Starter: Spencer Rattler

Backup: Luke Doty

Everyone seems to have a different opinion on Rattler, but love him or hate him, this is a massive upgrade in talent at the most important position for South Carolina. Rattler came into the 2021 season as one of the Heisman trophy favorites but was beaten out by the super-talented Caleb Williams. He decided to go play for a coach who he is familiar with in Beamer and he will be the starter instantly.

Rattler has a strong arm and that could help South Carolina in pushing the ball down the field more. He will give a needed jolt to what was a putrid passing game last season.

Luke Doty was the best quarterback for the Gamecocks last season and he will be the favorite for the backup job. Doty has the experience and will be a solid backup for the team.
