Texas A&M football is fresh off the best recruiting class in the history of the 247 sports composite rankings and here’s a look at the top targets in 2023.

It has been talked about at length, but Texas A&M football is recruiting at an extremely high level and while the Aggies put together the best class in the history of the 247 sports rankings in 2022, the focus has now shifted to the 2023 recruiting class.

So far, Texas A&M football is off to a solid start. The Aggies have four verbal commitments already in 2023 with three ranked in the top 200 overall. The top recruit in the class right now is top-100 quarterback Eli Holstein who is ranked 54th overall according to the 247 sports composite.

But there is still plenty of work to be done and we look at the three top targets for Texas A&M football in the 2023 recruiting class.

5-star DL David Hicks (No. 4 overall)

Texas A&M football landed some elite talent on the defensive line in the 2022 recruiting class, so it’s not necessarily a huge position of need. But, the Aggies still desperately want to add David Hicks who is the fourth-ranked recruit overall in 2023. He is the top-ranked defensive lineman in the 2023 class and the best player in the state of Texas.

The Aggies have done very well in the Lone Star State under Jimbo Fisher and that continues to be a priority. All the major names are involved here such as Alabama, Texas, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma — you name it. The Aggies have the only crystal ball projection right now, which is a good sign.

Yet, it was back in August and others haven’t followed suit, so there is still work to do. The On3.com prediction machine has the Aggies with a 58-percent chance of landing him, while Oklahoma is second at 42 percent.
