Every Big 12 football team welcomes newcomers in spring and summer camp. Which new faces will have an impact on their new teams?
The Big 12 enters this season with conference realignment looming. BYU joins the conference in 2023, with Cincinnati, Central Florida, and Houston in 2024. Conversely, Texas and Oklahoma bolt for the SEC in 2025. The 2024 superconference will be awesome.
This year has its storylines. Quinn Ewers, the most famous quarterback to not throw a meaningful pass, has transferred to Texas and is the prized signee of the transfer portal. Joey McGuire, a well-respected Texas high school coach and former Baylor assistant, begins his tenure at Texas Tech.
Oklahoma had a coach leave for another job for the first time in the modern era when Lincoln Riley left the Sooners for USC. Proving the best things come to those who wait, longtime Clemson defensive coordinator Jake Venables takes the helm of the OU program.
