Big 12 Football: 10 newcomers who’ll have instant impacts in 2022
By Dante Pryor
Braylin Presley, ATH
Don’t let Cowboys’ incoming freshman athlete Braylin Presley’s diminutive stature fool you. Size is not a skill and you cannot hit what you cannot catch. Presley is speed personified. Not only did he play football, but he was also a 10.64 100-yard dash sprinter and the Oklahoma player of the year.
Presley comes to Stillwater as instant offense. Presley can come in day one and contribute on special teams, returning kicks and punts while also being used on reverses, jet sweeps, or whatever else the Cowboys can do to get him in the ball in space.
Armani Winfield, WR
The Baylor Bears won the Big 12 championship last season using a lot of ground and pound with running backs Abram Smith and Trestan Ebner. If there was one thing the Bears lacked last season, it was a legitimate big-time receiver.
Dave Aranda, offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, and the Bears might have found their receiver in Armani Winfield. A former 200-meter sprinter, Winfield has ideal size to play early. Despite the size, Winfield has good acceleration and agility which can turn into big plays for the Bears.
