1. Texas A&M Aggies

This is obviously the sexy pick right now. Texas A&M is probably going to be a top-five team to start the 2022 season and it’s because Jimbo Fisher has a top-five roster in college football.

Fisher is also fresh off his first win over Alabama and that alone has to instill confidence in a head coach. He knows what it takes to slay Goliath and he’s going to have to do just that in order to make his first playoff as Texas A&M’s head coach.

The Aggies have high expectations and it’s because the program thinks of itself as a blue blood even though they aren’t. It’s good to have high expectations, especially when your program can hang with the perennial powerhouses when it comes to facilities and NIL opportunities for players. And Texas A&M landed the top recruiting class in history in 2022. That should help matters.

With the Aggies bringing in the best recruiting class of all time along with returning a healthy Haynes King at quarterback to compete with LSU transfer Max Johnson and Conner Weigman for the starting job, they should be serious contenders to upend Georgia and Alabama in the SEC.

If there was ever a time for it to be “Texas A&M’s year”, it’s 2022.
