Top 3 replacements for Davante Adams in 2022 NFL draft
The Green Bay Packers need to replace Davante Adams and here are the three best fits at wide receiver in the 2022 NFL draft.
Just when you thought nothing could distract from March Madness, the Green Bay Packers shocked the sports world by trading all-world wide receiver Davante Adams to the Raiders for first and second-round picks in the 2022 NFL draft.
Prior to this trade, many already expected the Packers to pursue a wide receiver in the 2022 NFL draft, although since it’s been nearly 20 years since the franchise used a first-round pick on a wide receiver, some thought that pick might come in the second round.
It certainly still could.
But if the Packers want to land one of the elite wide receivers in the 2022 NFL draft, they will need to act and can’t wait until round two.
There doesn’t seem to be the all-world wideout we have seen some teams land in recent years but there are some really talented players and guys who could make an immediate impact, just as Adams did when he was selected back in 2014.
Here are the top three candidates to replace Davante Adams in the 2022 NFL draft.
3. Drake London, USC
London has been productive in three years with the Trojans and caught 88 passes for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns in just eight games last season. However, he fractured his ankle and missed the final four games of the 2021 campaign.
Yet, London should be healthy for the start of next season. The 6-foot-4 wideout isn’t necessarily a burner and he’s not the route-runner that Adams is, however, he was a basketball player in high school and has really good ball skills.
That’s something that could work well with MVP Aaron Rodgers, who knows where to put the football as well as anyone in the NFL.
London probably isn’t the most polished wide receiver in the 2022 NFL draft, but there’s a reason many see him as the first guy off the board and if he hadn’t broken his ankle, his draft stock would probably be even higher.
The biggest problem for the Packers is that London isn’t likely going to drop outside the top 20, meaning they will likely have to trade up. Yet, with five picks in the top 100, that shouldn’t be too difficult if the Packers decide London is their guy.
