Top 3 replacements for Davante Adams in 2022 NFL draft
Chris Olave, Ohio State
Depending on the moves that the Packers make leading up to the 2022 NFL draft, their need at wideout might not be as critical as it is right now.
For instance, the team could re-sign Marquez Valdes-Scantling, one of the top deep threats on the outside in the NFL and that would lessen the need. Allen Lazard is also expected to return.
Both of those guys are solid No. 2 and No. 3 wide receivers, plus have experience with Rodgers. Their presence could take some pressure off any rookie to make an immediate impact but one that could gel with those guys is Ohio State’s Chris Olave.
Olave played four seasons at Ohio State and was highly productive. The 6-foot, 187-pounder ran a 4.39 at the NFL combine and caught 175 passes for 2,702 yards and 35 touchdowns.
While NFL scouts seem to prefer Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson, another receiver that will be drafted in the first round, part of that has to due with Wilson being thought to have a higher ceiling.
Olave is a tremendous route runner and he’s got really good body control. His hands could improve in contested catch situations but the same can be said about Wilson and both are pretty good in that area.
Olave feels like a guy that could help the Packers right away and Rodgers would really appreciate his route-running ability, especially for a rookie. Green Bay also could probably sit and wait for Olave to fall to them in the first round, which could save another pick for something else.
