Army

Thanks to an 8-4 regular season, as well as a 9-4 campaign overall, it stands to reason that Army would have received a berth in college football’s 64-team tournament.

The Black Knights probably wouldn’t be an incredibly high seed and I would think something in the double-digits would suit them based on their resume.

However, facing a service academy in the opening round of a college football tournament would be a tough draw for some teams, especially with the way Army still uses the triple option. It’s not easy to prepare for and the Black Knights nearly upset Wisconsin last season, losing by seven and also going down by 14 to Wake Forest.

There was a win over Liberty, plus the bowl victory over Missouri showed what Army is capable of. When you can use a ball-control offense the way Army does, one that teams aren’t normally prepared to see, it could lead to some problems for teams like Iowa, Ole Miss, or Utah — one of the potential opponents’ Army could see in the first round of the tournament.

Army has come close numerous times over the years to pulling some shocking upsets and in a college football-style March Madness, they aren’t a team people would want in their bracket.
