Florida Football, Iowa and Tennessee pick up 5-star crystal ball predictions
Florida Football picked up two crystal ball projections for a five-star recruit on Saturday. Iowa and Tennessee did the same earlier this week in college football recruiting.
Iowa isn’t really known for getting five-star recruits. But when the recruit is an offensive lineman and he’s from the state of Iowa as Kadyn Proctor is, then it certainly helps.
And despite a number of elite college football programs coming after the 6-foot-7, 330-pounder who is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings, Iowa seems to be in the driver’s seat, landing a crystal ball projection from Sean Bock, an Iowa insider with a confidence level of six on a scale of 1-10 on Saturday.
Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, and others are in the mix for Proctor who is the best offensive lineman in the class and has the look of a future top-10 pick.
It seems like he wants to stay at home and play in the Big Ten which would be a huge win for Kirk Ferentz — a head coach we talked about being criminally underrated the other day.
Florida Football lands five-star crystal balls too
Proctor wasn’t the only five-star recruit to receive a new crystal ball projection on Saturday and another was five-star defensive back AJ Harris.
Harris’s recruitment has been one of the most hotly contested in the 2023 recruiting class. Clemson, Georgia, and Florida football have all been in the mix.
Harris is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, and is out of Phenix City, Alabama. He’s ranked as the No. 17 overall prospect in 2023 and is the No. 2 cornerback as well as one of the top defenders.
Florida football has been trying to build momentum under new head coach Billy Napier and he certainly caused a positive finish to the end of the 2022 class, and now with a pair of five-star projections for Harris, with one coming from Steve Wiltfong, 247 sports’ top national analyst, it’s looking like Napier is living up to his reputation as a strong recruiter.
Tennessee projected to land five-star quarterback in 2023
Nicholaus Iamaleava is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2023 recruiting class and the Long Beach, California prospect is drawing comparisons to Marcus Mariota.
Florida football fans might know that the Gators just offered him this month on the ninth but are too late for the 6-foot-5 signal-caller who is ranked as the No. 4 QB prospect in 2023 according to the 247 sports composite rankings as well as the No. 7 player overall.
Florida didn’t crack his top five which includes Tennessee, Miami, Oregon, Georgia, and Alabama. You might wonder why the Vols are the pick by a pair of 247 sports experts but Arch Manning is squarely in the sights of Bama and Georgia.
Josh Heupel has a great reputation for working with quarterbacks and if he’s able to sign Iamaleava it could be a game-changer for a Tennessee football program that’s been dormant far too long.
