There are a bunch of talented quarterbacks returning in college football for the 2022 season and here’s our spring power ranking of the top 10.

Unfortunately, college football fans, we have a long, long wait until the 2022 season kicks off. We do, of course, have spring football and recruiting and just like the NFL, college football truly has no offseason anymore with the transfer portal and everything else.

Spring practices are taking place across the country and soon enough that will lead to spring college football games. Most of those are meaningless. But this year, with so much movement, especially at the quarterback position, it will be interesting to see some new faces in new places.

Yet, there are also some elite college football quarterbacks coming back for the 2022 season and as we bust out our spring power rankings for the position, we start with last season’s Heisman Trophy winner in Bryce Young.

1. Bryce Young, Alabama

Bryce Young was incredible last season for the Crimson Tide and threw a total of 47 touchdown passes compared to just seven interceptions as he led Alabama to an SEC championship and a berth in the national title game. Things didn’t work out for the Tide against Georgia in the College Football Playoff, but Young is on track to be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He can make all the throws and it wouldn’t be shocking at all if he won another Heisman Trophy award.

2. C.J. Stroud, Ohio State

C.J. Stroud finished third in the Heisman voting last season and one reason for that was a loss against Michigan football in the biggest game of the year. Stroud wasn’t bad at all (394 yards, 2 TDs). But he didn’t play well enough for Ohio State to win and he struggled against Oregon too. In fact, Ohio State fans wanted him benched at one point — at least some of them did. Yet, following an injury, Stroud had an insane nine-game stretch that featured 36 touchdown passes and just three interceptions including 536 yards and six TD passes in a Rose Bowl win over Utah. Stroud also had five games with over 400 yards passing and will light it up again in 2022.
