Does USC football have advantage in 5-star OL Josh Conerly’s recruitment?
Does USC football have a distinct advantage in the recruitment of highly-touted five-star offensive lineman Josh Conerly from Seattle?
In just a few weeks, one of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2022 class will commit to a program for the next 3-4 years. Josh Conerly is still uncommitted over a month after signing day, but he had to finish up basketball season and make final visits before deciding.
According to Brandon Huffman of 247Sports, Conerly is planning to announce his commitment on April 8. He’s down Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and Washington.
So far, according to Huffman, he’s taken official visits already to Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Oregon and has one final trip planned this coming weekend to USC. He hasn’t taken an official to Washington but he’s so close that he’s been there unofficially.
Getting the last visit is usually a really good sign because it can leave a lasting impression on a top recruit and visiting USC one final time before making a decision is going to give the Trojans a unique advantage.
Conerly is currently projected to land at Michigan with Jim Harbaugh, according to the crystal ball on 247Sports, but USC also has a crystal ball prediction. There’s not much confidence either way.
The No. 15 overall prospect and second-best offensive tackle in the 2022 class is going to have a tough decision to make but I think he may fall in love with Southern California on his final trip just two weeks after visiting Oregon. I wouldn’t be shocked if those two were his favorites now.
USC is going to get one final pitch and Lincoln Riley is going to have to knock it out of the park and roll out the red carpet but I have a feeling the Trojans will be the school to beat after this weekend.
