LSU football trending heavily for top-100 tight end Mac Markway

Brian Kelly and LSU football are close to landing of its top targets in the 2023 class in top-100 tight end Mac Markway from Saint Louis.

We are starting to see what Brian Kelly is capable of as a recruiter with LSU football, landing the No. 12 class in the country for 2022 and he’s already piecing together a solid 2023 class.

LSU has just one commit in the 2023 class but it’s trending with some big names. Also, that one pledge is one of the best receivers in the country.

On Tuesday, the Tigers received a handful of crystal ball predictions to land one of the nation’s top tight ends from Saint Louis in Mac Markway. He’s ranked the No. 100 composite player in the class and one of the top 6-7 tight ends in the class.

Markway could be a breakout star in a Kelly-led offense because if you watched Notre Dame over the past decade, he utilized tight ends heavily. He had plenty of breakout stars at that position.

Plus, Markway is one of the most talented tight ends in the country, being compared to Foster Moreau by Gabe Brooks of 247Sports. His strength is blocking and he’s an “adequate” pass-catcher, per Brooks, but once he becomes a serious threat in the passing game, watch out because the sky is the limit here.

Markway is also high on Ohio State, Iowa, and Miami, but it looks like he could be a Tiger sooner rather than later, giving LSU two top-150 prospects to start the cycle.
