Texas A&M Football: 3 storylines to follow in spring 2022
Texas A&M football is heading into spring ball with some lofty expectations. Let’s take a look at some storylines everyone will be keeping an eye on.
Expectations in College Station are on the rise after a solid 2021 season under Jimbo Fisher. Texas A&M football finally beat Alabama with Fisher at the helm and finished 8-4.
Now the Aggies bring in the No. 1 recruiting class in the country which also happens to be the top-rated class of all time and that just boosts expectations. They should be ranked in the top five to start the season and at that point, it’d be a shock to see them finish with fewer than 10 wins.
That’s a lot of pressure for a head coach who hasn’t broken through quite yet, but who has been close. Maybe this is the year.
What storylines will everyone be following this spring?
3. Lauded early-enrolled freshmen
There are so many talented freshmen coming in with the 2022 class and 11 of them are enrolled early. Not only are 11 enrolled already, but seven were ranked in the top-100 and nine were in the top-200. What that means is that these guys are going to be fighting for spots on the two-deep immediately.
Guys like Evan Stewart, Conner Weigman, Jake Johnson, Anthony Lucas, Denver Harris, and Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy will all have an impact on the depth chart this spring.
Will any of these guys break through and earn starting jobs with breakout springs or will they look like freshmen?
