Notre Dame football is starting to look like the team to beat for one of the top running backs in the 2023 class in Jayden Limar.

Anyone who has ever been worried about Marcus Freeman’s recruiting following the departure of Brian Kelly has no leg to stand on anymore. The new Notre Dame football coach not only signed an elite 2022 class, ranking No. 7 in the country but he’s also off to a hot start to the 2023 cycle.

Freeman currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in college football for 2023 and it looks like he’s not going to take any steps back from the Kelly era. Actually, he may be even more impressive as a recruiter in South Bend than his predecessor.

Notre Dame’s top-ranked 2023 class currently has nine commitments, led by five-star edge rusher Keon Keeley.

It may be close to adding another top recruit in the form of a four-star running back.

Jayden Limar has picked up a number of 247Sports crystal balls over the past 24 hours to Notre Dame and the Washington-native now looks destined to be part of the Irish’s 2023 class rather than the previous home-state favorite, Washington, which shockingly was left out of his recently-released top nine schools.

Limar is ranked the No. 242 overall prospect and 12th-best running back in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports.

Notre Dame looks like the likely destination for Limar but the Irish will have to fend off the likes of Michigan, Arizona, Louisville, Miami, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Washington State.

The Irish could very well land the No. 1 class in 2023 and if Freeman can keep the momentum going in the right direction, recruiting victories like this one for Limar won’t be all that surprising.
