Oklahoma football is hosting a big recruiting weekend and the Sooners are building confidence with one elite target as is the Florida football team with a 2023 RB.

When Brent Venables was hired as Oklahoma football coach to replace Lincoln Riley, one of the biggest questions was whether or not he could keep OU recruiting at an elite level?

Oklahoma football is always going to recruit well. But heading into the SEC and with Texas right there and other programs like A&M and even Baylor on the rise, things aren’t getting any less competitive, especially with the Big-12 expanding.

But so far, the Sooners haven’t really missed a beat on the recruiting trail. Oklahoma football already has an elite quarterback in Jackson Arnold, who is ranked 40th overall.

Oklahoma football doesn’t have any other top-100 commitments yet in the 2023 class but the Sooners are trending for elite offensive tackle Cayden Green Who is visiting Norman this weekend.

Green recently released a top five that included Oklahoma and Michigan, the other contender in this race. Green was recently in Ann Arbor and is expected to visit Michigan, however, he’s also going to take an official visit to Oklahoma at a later date.

Thursday night, prior to Green’s visit, Allen Trieu and Steve Wiltfong both put in crystal ball picks for Green with an average confidence of six. So while Michigan is still in the mix, it looks like Venables and the Sooners are ready for another big recruiting win.

Florida picks up crystal ball pick for 2023 RB

Treyaun Webb is one of the top running backs in the 2023 recruiting class. He’s ranked fifth at the position in the 247 sports composite rankings and his recruitment has been interesting.

Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Georgia have all received crystal ball projections for Webb who is from Trinity Christian out of Jacksonville. He’s 6-foot-1, 205 pounds and on Friday, Florida football received its second crystal ball this month for Webb.

Like Miami, the focus for Florida football is keeping the talented recruits in Florida close to home, and landing Webb would be a nice step in the right direction.

Webb was projected as a round 4-7 pick in the NFL draft a couple of years ago and he’s improved his speed, running the 100-meters in just over 11 seconds.

The Gators have just one commitment right now in 2023 and Florida football could certainly use the momentum of a top-5 running back in the class.
