Some college football teams and head coaches are facing more pressure than others and here’s a look at the five programs under the most pressure going into 2022.

This past offseason was one of the most active in recent memory for college football as a number of big-time head coaches and quarterbacks changed programs.

LSU, Miami, Oregon, Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Texas Tech, and even more replaced their head coaches this past season.

The demand to win and win now is higher than ever before and college football coaches are getting very little time to turn things around.

Programs like Nebraska, Florida State, and USC expect to win every season, yet all of those programs had losing records a year ago.

The only difference between the three former college football powers is that the Trojans have started their new rebuild under Lincoln Riley and it seems headed for big things. So the pressure really isn’t on USC right away.

But some other head coaches hired at major college football programs (at least in the past) have struggled and as we look towards the 2022 season, here are five college football teams/head coaches facing the most pressure.

Florida State and Mike Norvell

Nobody was picturing an 8-13 record after two years when Mike Norvell was hired away from Memphis but so far, it’s been a colossal disaster.

It was made even worse when Norvell, who still signed a pretty solid recruiting class in 2022, lost the commitment of the No. 1 overall prospect, Travis Hunter, on early national signing day to Jackson State and former FSU alum Deion Sanders.

Prime says he’s happy at Jackson State for now, but it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t jump at the chance to coach the Seminoles and if Norvell doesn’t get Florida State football headed in the right direction this season, which means probably 7-8 wins at least, Sanders might get his chance sooner than expected as FSU is still reeling from the departure of Jimbo Fisher.
