BYU Football: Jaren Hall may be best QB no one is talking about
BYU football’s Jaren Hall might just be the best quarterback that no one is talking about heading into the 2022 season.
Two years ago, BYU football had a quarterback by the name of Zach Wilson who put up some monster numbers and made a name for himself on a national level.
Wilson became an overnight sensation and earned himself an early-first-round draft slot with the New York Jets where he’s currently the starting quarterback.
BYU was tasked with replacing him in 2021, but it wasn’t easy.
Jaren Hall looked like the answer, but he suffered some injuries yet still played in 10 games, passing for over 2,500 yards and 20 touchdowns with only five picks. He also had a completion rate of 64 percent and just made some incredible throws throughout the year.
It was clear that he was BYU’s best quarterback and the ideal replacement for Wilson even with Baylor Romney playing well in his place when he missed time.
Hall has all the tools to be a star for BYU and when you watch some of his highlights, it’s almost unbelievable that he was tucked away in Provo for four years.
Hall makes all the throws that you want from an elite quarterback and he makes it look rather easy. He has a strong, accurate arm and a knack for making big plays. He can also tuck and run with it when he feels the pressure. He’s a fantastic talent and yet no one is really talking about him as one of the nation’s best.
When you talk about the nation’s top quarterbacks, there are guys like CJ Stroud and Bryce Young that get mentioned, and deservedly so, but Hall should get plenty of respect.
We’re going to see him break out and maybe even have a 2020 Wilson-like season for BYU.
A strong-bodied, 6-1, 205-pound mobile quarterback with a rocket arm who has impressive accuracy? This dude is going to be a star.
