Notre Dame Football: Irish firmly leading for 5-star QB Dante Moore
Notre Dame football has tons of momentum with five-star quarterback Dante Moore and a number of experts believe the Irish are the favorite.
It’s not really breaking news to say that Notre Dame football is leading the way in the recruitment of five-star quarterback Dante Moore out of Detroit, Michigan.
Moore, who is ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect according to the 247 sports composite rankings for 2023 and the third-ranked quarterback, was thought to be a Michigan lean at one time after being offered in the eighth grade by the Wolverines.
But that was up until Jim Harbaugh took a serious interest in the NFL. That seemed to hurt Michigan and the recruiting style of quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss hasn’t helped.
Tommy Rees of Notre Dame has done a great job connecting with Moore and here’s what Tom Loy of Irish Illustrated wrote about Moore who is currently visiting the Irish:
"“Notre Dame is a top contender for Moore. Regarding his future landing spot, myself, 247Sports National Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, 247Sports National Analyst Allen Trieu and Irish Illustrated’s Kevin Sinclair all believe the Fighting Irish lead as of today and we all have Moore eventually picking Notre Dame as it stands right now.”"
None of these recruiting experts have gone as far as crystal ball predictions for Notre Dame football yet, but it doesn’t seem like they are far away.
Notre Dame football is the favorite
It’s hard to say when Moore will commit. Notre Dame would love to see a decision sooner rather than later but that’s always true of the leader. The longer recruitments go, the more recruits tend to change their mind and the longer this goes, the more Michigan has a chance.
However, some 247 sports experts aren’t the only ones projecting Moore to Notre Dame. The On3.com prediction machine which takes into account insider predictions and a number of other factors such as visits, is giving Notre Dame a big lead.
Right now, Notre Dame has a 63-percent chance of landing Moore according to the prediction machine. Michigan is second with 13 percent but is just ahead of LSU which has 10.
It will be interesting to see if that number goes up by the end of the visit, but as things stand right now, the Irish are in a great position to land the five-star quarterback, which would be a game-changing addition for Marcus Freeman.
All that talk in 2023 right now is about Arch Manning and for good reason. But Moore is special in his own right and if Notre Dame gets him, he could be the key to a national championship.
