Too low: Texas A&M (9)

The SEC football projections from 247 sports have Texas A&M winning the third-most games in the league next season with nine.

Following an 8-4 season in 2020 when there were high expectations, a nine-win season probably isn’t going to satisfy the thirst of Texas A&M football fans to reach the elite of the SEC.

Max Johnson was added from the transfer portal to help address the quarterback position, plus Haynes King is healthy and five-star QB Conner Weigman is in the mix too.

Texas A&M also just signed the best recruiting class in the history of the 247 sports composite rankings. It was one of the great defensive-line hauls in the history of recruiting and should give the Aggies a legit shot at winning a national title in the near future.

The Aggies do have difficult road trips to Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina, as well as a neutral-site game against Arkansas, which they lost last season. Miami, a team that should be much improved with Mario Cristobal also comes to College Station.

That’s why I can see a projection of nine games. However, the Aggies will be dominant in the trenches and good enough on offense to win 10. So the win projection is too low.

Other too low candidates: Arkansas (7) and Kentucky (7)

Arkansas is loaded with talent but the schedule is brutal. The same can be said for Kentucky which is life as an SEC football team. But both should have a good shot of reaching eight wins if they can replicate their formulas from last season, something that should be easier with each team returning its starting quarterback.
