There are many teams that have quarterbacks competing to start this fall. These are five quarterback battles to keep an eye on around college football.

Hope always springs eternal during this time of year. Flowers start to grow, and trees bud and begin to grow their leaves again. Birds migrate north, and schools start spring practice. The start of spring practice has many fans asking the same question, “Who is going to start at quarterback?”

From Trevor Lawrence to Joe Burrow, a great quarterback’s impact on a team is evident. Clemson and LSU won National Titles in those cases. Solving your quarterback issues helps when building a program as well. Tennessee and Boston College are evidence of that.

The five teams on this list all have that question. This offseason, Notre Dame was surprisingly reticent with the high number of talented quarterbacks in the portal. LSU has an embarrassment of riches at quarterback.

Michigan has perhaps the most exciting quarterback question. Cade McNamara got the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff. Is he enough of a playmaker to get them over the hump? J.J. McCarthy is the more athletic playmaker but is largely unproven.

Those are some of the many spring practice quarterback battles. There is no doubt that the second wave of transfers is coming. Here is a close look at five quarterback battles this spring.
