It was a busy day in college football’s transfer portal and following a flurry of moves, Alabama football was a big winner, along with Penn State and SMU.

It’s funny how you don’t near Alabama football head coach Nick Saban complaining about the college football transfer portal, which probably has nothing to do with his team dominating it.

Alabama football isn’t leading the college football transfer portal rankings for 2022, but the additions that the Crimson Tide have made are vitally important including another official move on Tuesday, as well as another expected addition that’s new to the transfer portal.

Tyler Steen commits to Alabama football

Tyler Steen, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive tackle from Vanderbilt committed to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday, giving Alabama the fourth-ranked offensive tackle in the entire transfer portal. Even though he was rated as a three-star recruit in high school, he was bumped up to a four-star prospect in the portal and there were a number of other suitors too.

Yet, as we have learned in college football recruiting, if Nick Saban wants a player, more often than not, said player ends up playing for the Crimson Tide. Bama needed some help at offensive tackle and it guys one of the best guys in a position to offer immediate help in 2022.

Alabama football expected to land another talented transfer

It might get old for some college football fans, but Alabama isn’t done with transfer portal additions.

We saw the Tide add Jermaine Burton at wide receiver earlier this offseason in a move that had to hurt for UGA fans. However, Heisman winner Bryce Young sounds like he will get another pass-catcher soon as Louisville transfer Tyler Harrell is expected to commit to Bama according to a report from 247 sports.

Of course, the move could be seen as a lateral one of sorts for the depth chart as Alabama just had Agiye Hall a former top-100 recruit go to the transfer after he violated team rules.

Still, the addition of Harrell, a player with over 500 yards receiving and five touchdowns for Louisville last season, will help shore up that need quickly. He also averaged 29 yards per reception which could also help fill the gap left by Jameson Williams.

All in all, whether it’s with traditional recruiting or in the transfer portal, Alabama is still one of the programs that rule the day.
