Spring ball is the perfect time to sort out quarterback battles. These college football teams are in the midst of quarterback battles.

The sequel is often not as good as the original. Though The Empire Strikes Back and The Godfather II are two of the best sequels in movie history. These five schools are in the midst of quarterback battles. They might not be as high-profile as the first list (except Clemson), but these battles are still intriguing.

The Oregon State Beavers have the shadow of the possibility of J.T. Daniels coming to Corvallis in the middle of Tristian Jebbia and Chance Nolan vying to be QB1. The competition in Blacksburg is “The Battle of the Transfers,” with Connor Blumrick, a dark horse, to win that job.

Nebraska’s quarterback competition is fascinating. The ‘Huskers brought in two transfer quarterbacks — Texas transfer Casey Thompson and Florida State transfer Chuba Purdy. Thompson seems to be a better fit for new offensive coordinator Mark Whipple’s offense, while Purdy would run what head coach Scott Frost prefers.

The Bearcats brought back a familiar face in Ben Bryant to compete with Evan Prater. Bryant began his career at Cincinnati before transferring to Eastern Michigan.

Clemson looks to return to the national elite this season. Can young freshman Cade Klubnik do to D.J. Uiagelelei what Trevor Lawrence did to Kelly Bryant?

Let’s take a deeper look into these five quarterback competitions.
