JT Daniels is officially a Mountaineer. Here are three ways he could affect the West Virginia football program in 2022.

Quarterback JT Daniels‘ college football journey continues in Morgantown, West Virginia. Daniels’ career began at USC, and went cross-country to Athens, Georgia, to play for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Daniels chose West Virginia over Oregon State and Missouri. “Going up and down the roster, I feel like they have very, very good pieces everywhere,” Daniels told ESPN. “It feels like a great fit for [a] quarterback. I feel like there’s a really, really, really good team that I’m going to step into and do my part to contribute.”

Daniels, a five-star quarterback from Santa Ana, Calif., began his career at USC. That career began with promise until a knee injury sidelined him and Kedon Slovis emerged as the starting quarterback.

Slovis’ emergence as an All-Pac-12 player led to Daniels transferring to Georgia. He was still rehabbing his knee and could never wrestle the starting job away from Stetson Bennet IV, who led the Bulldogs to the national title this season.

Now Daniels is attempting to build an NFL resume at West Virginia. Here are three implications of his transfer.
