This is the time of year when college football recruiting commitments start to pick up and here are six teams that are recruiting at a high level this April.

Things are really starting to pick up in the 2023 college football recruiting class with over 50 commitments in the last 10 days.

Spring has become a really important time during college football recruiting and this week, coaches will be allowed to visit prospects. That should lead to more visits and we are now seeing more official visits.

Official visits are now allowed for 2024 recruits too, a period that began on April 1. An official visit is a 48-hour visit paid for by the school, while an unofficial visit is a player stopping on campus on his own dime like during a spring game or something like that.

Even though this month has been about commitments and every college football team on this least has at least one significant commitment in the past 10 days, this list is also reflecting teams gaining momentum with keys prospects, and one team with unquestionable momentum on the recruiting trail is Notre Dame football, which is where we start our list.

Notre Dame football adds 4-star RB to 2022 class

It was sort of expected but the Irish actually added to their 2022 recruiting haul on Friday with a commitment from Gi’Bran Payne who was committed to Indiana.

Payne is out of Cincinnati so you can see the connection with head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame. He signed with Indiana but the Hoosiers allowed the 275th-ranked player in the 2022 class and the No. 22 running back out of his scholarship.

The Irish also keep building momentum with five-star quarterback Dante Moore and currently have an 88 percent chance of landing him according to the On3.com prediction machine, while also emerging as the favorite for Charles Jagusah, a top-50 offensive lineman.

Payne’s commitment ends a two-month drought for Notre Dame football and I wouldn’t expect it to be the last, especially with the Irish also trending for 2023 running back Jayden Limar.
