Some college football teams are still taking part in spring practices but the majority have wrapped up and here’s an updated top 10 ranking heading into the fall.

Over the past two weeks, the majority of college football programs have held their spring practices, with teams such as Alabama, Florida, and a number of others in the SEC doing it this past week/weekend.

Ohio State was also on the field this past weekend, as was Michigan State. Michigan had its spring game two weeks ago, while last weekend featured Texas A&M and Clemson, among others.

It’s the time of year when every college football fan feels optimistic. Every fan is feeling some newly signed and enrolled recruits, as well as new coaches or transfers, are going to make an immediate difference for their team.

Spring games, which are rarely more than a glorified practice, only add to the effect. Just like with the NFL preseason, outside of some individual performances, there is little to be learned.

The point being, we aren’t learning much from seeing Alabama or Georgia starters do things against each other, outside of seeing the development of young talent for next season.

Every team contending for the College Football Playoff is having to replace talent from last season. That’s just the way it works and those that do it best tend to keep winning, so here’s a look at our (prior version) updated top 10 rankings heading into the 2022 season.

1. Alabama

Georgia might be the defending national champion but the Crimson Tide are the No. 1 team in these college football rankings heading into 2022.

Bama returns Heisman runner Bryce Young and maybe the best defensive player in college football too in Will Anderson. The Crimson Tide have also added top players from the transfer portal at wide receiver, cornerback, and offensive tackle.

There don’t appear to be any weaknesses and this is a team with a good chance of going 12-0 in the regular season.
