2. The offensive line is still a work in progress

Arguably the Nittany Lions’ biggest Achilles’ heal over the past couple seasons has been their offensive line. It certainly was not going to dramatically improve with 15 spring practices.

James Franklin has said in interviews the unit was dealing with some depth issues this spring. The lack of depth kept the team from doing more at the position and in the spring game.

However there are some positions seemingly settled. Center seems set with Juice Scruggs. Landon Tengwell had limited play last season but showed promise in the time he did play. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has faith in Tengwell being versatile enough to man either the guard or tackle spots so look for him to be a full time starter this fall.

With spring behind them and fall will be here before long, it is put up or shut up time for this positional unit. If the Nittany Lions are going to bounce back this season, they must fix the offensive line along with the run game.

We did not see any thing in the spring to prove the offensive line has turned a corner yet. They will continue to be a question mark heading into fall camp.
