2022 NFL Draft: Top 3 options for the Steelers at No. 20
By Shane Lunnen
The 2022 NFL Draft is fast approaching. Here are the best options for the Pittsburgh Steelers to use for their first-round pick.
The 2022 NFL Draft will be the last one for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ longtime general manager Kevin Colbert, who is retiring this offseason. Colbert will look to set up the Steelers in the best position for their future.
It has been quite the offseason for the Steelers. It is the first one since 2003 without Ben Roethlisberger. With the extra salary cap space, the Steelers were very active in free agency which was a departure from their normal strategy of staying mostly quiet at the start of free agency.
Sadly, tragedy also struck the team with the sudden passing of quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin of course want to be sensitive at a difficult time but the business of drafting a quarterback has to be on their minds with now only two on the roster.
Last year the Steelers snuck into the playoffs with a 9-7-1 record and were quickly eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs on Wild Card Weekend. They are more than just a quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender.
Pittsburgh certainly needs to shore up the trenches on both sides of the ball. Adding another wide receiver would go a long way toward helping an offense with a new quarterback under center. Finally adding depth at linebacker and in their secondary is a must.
Which direction will Pittsburgh ultimately choose with its first pick? The Steelers have the 20th pick in the first round and should have plenty of options. Here are three of the best players that should be available to them.
