2022 NFL Mock draft: Final first-round projection
The Texans have a lot of needs but adding an elite offensive tackle who can play on either side is a smart move here. Davis Mills flashed a little last season as a rookie quarterback and building up the offensive line for a developing QB is never a bad idea. And since Houston picks later in the first round, it won’t be the last chance to add playmakers.
New York needs to upgrade its pass rush and while Kayvon Thibodeaux seems to be falling out of favor with some NFL teams, at least compared to Hutchinson and Walker, the Jets would do well to land him here, although I wouldn’t count out Jermaine Johnson either or a cornerback. Yet, the Jets shouldn’t overthink it and Thibodeaux can be elite down the road.
The Giants have drafted quarterbacks, receivers, and running backs in recent drafts, as well as offensive lineman Andrew Thomas. Now, it’s time to go back to that well again. New York is invested in giving Daniel Jones another chance and adding one of the best offensive linemen in the draft would be a great help. Ekwonu has even been talked about as the No. 1 overall pick so this would be a great value pick for the G-Men.
