2022 NFL Draft: Grading Chiefs’ No. 21 pick of Trent McDuffie
Handing out a grade for the Kansas City Chiefs No. 21 pick of cornerback Trent McDuffie in the 2022 NFL draft.
There has been a ton of trade movement in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft and one of the teams that made a move up was the Kansas City Chiefs.
Kansas City has multiple first-round picks and entered the draft with more picks in the first four rounds than any other team and they used that firepower to get one of the draft’s best cornerbacks in Washington’s Trent McDuffie.
Like the Packers, the Chiefs could use a wideout but the value is probably going to be better in the second round or at the end of the first. What do you think about Trent McDuffie? Here’s our grade of his 21st overall selection to Kansas City.
Grading Trent McDuffie to Kansas City: A
I really love this pick of Trent McDuffie, a long, physical corner out of the Pac-12 who isn’t afraid to play man-to-man on an island. With the Raiders trading for Davante Adams and the Chargers loaded on offense too, it was smart for Kansas City and frankly, I don’t think McDuffie is that far off from the top two corners in the draft. He also tackles pretty well.
He’s 5-foot-11, 195 pounds and even though he had zero interceptions and just six passes defended last season, a big reason for that was because he was so good in coverage. Teams wouldn’t even throw his way and the Chiefs got a steal here in my humble opinion.
