The Detroit Lions have the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. These are the players the Lions should target with that pick.

Last season was one of transition for the Detroit Lions. Dan Campbell was in his first season as head coach. The Lions traded Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams. Suffice it to say, the Lions were in rebuilding mode.

Detroit once again finished last in the NFC North, losing double-digit games for the fourth consecutive year. The Lions have not had a winning season since 2018 and have not won double-digit games since 2014. Detroit has not won a playoff game since 1991 when they went to the NFC Championship game.

There was some reason for optimism last season, however. Campbell had the Lions playing hard, despite a marginal roster. They are in dire need of upgrades at several different positions.

Jared Goff is not the long-term answer at quarterback. The Lions have to answer is simple; is Malik Willis worth the second overall pick in the draft? Detroit allowed the most touchdown passes in the NFL last season.

The Lions could pick the best prospect in the draft in Kyle Hamilton or take one of the two best edge rushers in this draft, either Kayvon Thibodeaux or Travon Walker. Let’s look at the players the Detroit Lions should target with the second pick.
