2022 NFL Draft: 3 biggest steals in the first round
I was all-in on Kayvon Thibodeaux going either No. 1 or No. 2 in this year’s draft.
But the Lions and Jaguars both passed on him which shocked me and then he fell all the way to No. 5 after the Texas and Jets both passed on him as well. The latter teams both went with a cornerback after the first two picks were defensive linemen.
Arguably the most talented defensive lineman in the draft fell to the Giants at No. 5 and they have to feel really good about getting him to bolster that edge.
Before the 2021 season, Thibodeaux was widely regarded as the top NFL draft prospect in the class. He was almost a lock at No. 1 in every early mock but an injury during the season changed some things and draft experts seemed to overlook him a little bit.
Thibodeaux finished his junior season with 49 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and seven sacks.
