Nakobe Dean’s immense fall in the 2022 NFL Draft finally came to an end in the third round as the Eagles “took a chance” on the star linebacker.

Every year, there seems to be a head-scratching slide in the NFL draft that has everyone wondering what is going on behind the scenes.

Nakobe Dean was that guy this year.

The Georgia superstar linebacker was widely considered a top-10 talent, but he somehow slipped out of the first round. Everyone kind of expected him to go early on Day 2, but the second round passed and he had still yet to hear his name called.

Everyone was wondering what the heck was going on.

It just didn’t make sense that one of the best defenders in the SEC, a national champion, All-American, and Dick Butkus Award winner was falling past the first two rounds.

What could have possibly been the reason?

Austin Gayle of Pro Football Focus shed some light on the issue that supposedly caused him to drop to the third round.

The Eagles finally ended the slide at No. 83 and he’s paired with former teammate Jordan Davis on that defense which is only going to make Philadelphia that much scarier.

It’s almost unfair that the Eagles got two of the best players at their respective positions while not even having a top-10 pick. Their first pick came in at No. 13 when they got Davis (a great pick) and then they snag Dean (arguably the best linebacker) 70 picks later in round three. That is highway robbery.

Dean may have some injury concerns and there’s a possibility thrown around that he may “redshirt” in 2022 and get healthy to come back in 2023 as a “rookie” of sorts. Even if that does happen, the Eagles will still look like geniuses when he becomes one of the best linebackers in the league.

Philadelphia got the NFL draft’s biggest steal and there are still four rounds to go.
