3 thoughts on recent developments in Arch Manning’s recruitment
Offering three thoughts on the recent news that five-star quarterback Arch Manning has narrowed his recruitment down to Texas and Georgia.
When it comes to the 2023 recruiting class, there is no question about the top prize: it’s five-star quarterback Arch Manning.
The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, as well as the grandson of Archie Manning, and the son of Cooper Manning, is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 1 overall prospect according to every recruiting service.
Arch Manning has been going through the recruiting process but a trio of teams have emerged, despite a visit to Virginia, and those were Alabama, Georgia, and Texas.
LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida have also been mentioned as teams in consideration, but a recent report from Chad Simmons of On3.com indicates that Georgia and Texas are standing out.
While there have been some reports like this before, there is reason to believe that Alabama is falling out of the race for Manning and here are three thoughts on where things stand.
Alabama is fading for Arch Manning
You could kind of see this coming as Alabama started surging in the recruitment of four-star quarterback Eli Holstein, who was committed to Texas A&M. The Tide picked up a crystal ball projection for Holstein just last week.
Nick Saban is always difficult to beat on the recruiting trail, but it sounds like Manning wants to go somewhere he can create his own legacy and Bama might be the most difficult place to do that.
A number of different quarterbacks have found success and even won Heisman trophies under Nick Saban, so Manning wouldn’t be doing anything special. He would just be the next great QB in a long line of them in Tuscaloosa during the Saban era.
There was a report that the Crimson Tide were going to wait for Arch to make a decision before taking a quarterback, but it sounds like they will take Holstein, who is ranked 70th overall according to the On3.com consensus rankings and has a 98 percent chance of landing at Alabama.
