ACC: Wake Forest @ North Carolina State

This matchup may not involve two of the biggest Power 5 brands out there (or even two of the biggest ACC ones), but it has definitely been one of the nation’s most competitive deathmatches in recent memory.

When it comes to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and North Carolina State Wolfpack, a relatively common occurrence over the past 25 years or so has been the home team taking the victory. This trend has helped pave the way for a rather evenly-matched rivalry in that same span.

The foes’ latest pair of meetings have truly put the competitiveness of their current nature into perspective, though. The 2020-21 season saw NC State win in Raleigh, 45-42. Just over a year later, the 2021-22 season saw Wake win in Winston-Salem, 45-42.

Taking these final scores into consideration when discussing each team’s newfound relevance in the ACC title race, it is safe to say that this portion of the Tobacco Road rivalry won’t be one to miss next season.
